In March of 2020, I lost my father to leukemia. I wanted to represent my dad in a way that would make him proud. My whole life I watched him endure this horrible disease; awful treatments and appalling medications. Constantly thinking, “Why does everyone live their perfect, dream life, while my dad is going through a dreadful and depressing time?” No one should suffer like that, especially him. Watching friends have dad and daughter dinners, movie nights or simply just saying, “Goodnight, I love you,” made me even more eager to try my hardest to end blood cancer so all kids can say goodnight to their parents. After his passing we lost his soul, but not his spirit and motivation to take life head on despite its challenges. With that spirit I accepted my nomination to run for LLS Student Visionaries of the Year, representing myself, my team, and my dad. My campaign will provide support to the critical work of LLS in hopes that one day no one will have to grow up without the ones they love. I know that with your help, I can reach my goal and make a direct impact in the fight against blood cancers.
